Looking out for your lungs

Looking out for your lungs

There are a broad range of construction activities that can create a risk of exposure to hazardous substances which, when breathed in, can damage the lungs and cause lung disease. Activities that carry this risk include the cutting of kerbstones, stonemasonry, scabbling, surface grinding, tunnelling, laying epoxy floors and carpentry.

Therefore, it is no coincidence that amongst the most prevalent diseases affecting those in construction are asbestos-related illnesses, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, lung cancer and silicosis.

Park has a series of sessions titled “Look Out For Your Lungs” to help raise awareness of these diseases in the workplace. Click the link below to find out more about this and read the associated case study where we worked with operatives to promote healthy lungs on a large residential project in London.
